Jewels of love-lit days and nights, Gems cut by the moon and polished by the sun,  Sapphires of midnight skies, Fire-opals of sunsets, beryls of verdant twilights,  Moonstones of misty summer eyes, Tourmalines of dawn. Since I may not wear these royal hours more than once, I fling them in the placid pool of Memory; That she may wear them, veiling each one, Glamorously in the shadow-ripples of her dreams ~ S. F., "Hours of Love," Poems by Three Friends, 1924
